Quick start

How to use Prompt Paul to get AI answers in Chrome

Install the extension, connect a model, select the context you want to process, and ask for an answer from the side panel, context menu, or optional Top Notch quick actions. The shortest path is: install → connect → select → ask.

Connect an AI provider

Open Options and create or select a connection profile. API profiles use an endpoint, API key, and model; Codex uses Sign in with ChatGPT; Hermes uses a gateway URL and optional key. Save and test the connection. For the exact fields, see the provider setup guide.

Select the context

Highlight text on a supported webpage and use the right-click action, open the side panel, or enable the optional Top Notch in Options for browser-page quick actions. Restricted browser pages such as chrome:// pages and the Chrome Web Store are unavailable. The composer can also hold page content, images, audio, video, PDFs, and dropped .txt / .md / .markdown / .csv / .json documents as removable context. Media support depends on the provider and model; Codex connections in this release support text and images, while video and audio require a compatible API profile. Enable the relevant media types in Options before using their context-menu actions.

Ask for the result you need

Choose a quick action such as summarize, explain, proofread, or rewrite, or write your own request. Saved prompts can be reused through custom instructions.

Need current sources?

With an API-key or Codex connection and a configured Brave key, enable Web only when live or verifiable information matters. If a search runs, Prompt Paul adds a source-linked Sources section. Read about web grounding and page actions.
